1776 Broadway's Award Winning Musical
1776 tells the story of the writing of the Declaration of Independence unlike any Broadway play of musical, or, for that matter, any university course, public lecture, or book!
Designed to present our heritage through the medium of the theatre with actors as historical interpreters, the Center for American Heritage Studies (then FICE) was proud to present 1776. As Broadway's premier history musical, 1776 not only entertains us with its incredible music and songs, not to mention a memorable set of singing and dancing Founding Fathers (and two mothers), but it gets the history right!
The brainchild of former high school history teacher, Sherman Edwards, 1776 concentrates its powerful message on telling the story of the Declaration through the delegates of the 2nd Continental Congress from early June 1776 to July 4, 1776.
Performed in the round at Penn State University's Pavilion Theatre, 1776 was presented to provoke and entertain; directing us to revisit the Declaration of Independence, this wonderful pillar of freedom and liberty.
